We have to love sidekicks. Though never endowed with quite the heroic qualities of a given series' star, they are loyal and faithful to the end. The cuteness of an Iolaus or a Richie Ryan can be more accessible than the daunting beauty of a Hercules or a Duncan MacLeod. They help their heroic friends learn the life lessons that we must take from every episode of a show like "Highlander: The Series" or "Xena: Warrior Princess." And every once in a while, to their fans' great delight, they actually get a whole episode of their own.
